The Hour Before the Dinner Party - Personal Project

Cocktail hour in Halston's New York apartment. A few guests have arrived early. Drinks are being poured. Everyone is probably going to Studio 54 after dinner.

This personal project set out to elevate the humble tin of fish, sardines, anchovies, smoked trout, and treat it with the same reverence as caviar. Shot solo at home with hard flash, a wide, distorting lens, and no stylist, the images draw on the still-life work of Irving Penn and the fashion-editorial light of Helmut Newton.
